Indie horror game for PC

Symphony of Seven Souls is a free adventure game created by an indie developer who goes by the name Katanalevy. This is a first-person atmospheric horror game about a composer trying to create a new masterpiece. He calls upon the dead to help with his orchestral symphony.

Just like with Harmful or The Keeper, Symphony of Seven Souls' design is very reminiscent of the classic PS1 games of decades past. It features the same low-poly 3D aesthetic loved by new and old players alike. Together with its eerie and atmospheric, presentation, makes for a unique and memorable experience.

What is Symphony of Seven Souls about?

In Symphony of Seven Souls, you play as a composer looking to create his latest masterpiece called the Symphony of Seven Souls. However, he struggles in the attempt due to the lack of creative inspiration. Pushed towards desperation, he resorts to drastic measures, calling upon the souls of the dead to serve as his personal otherwordly orchestra to produce the melody he needs for his latest opus.

To form this hellish ensemble, you will need to collect seven lost souls that lurk and haunt the dark, bleak streets of your town. They are invisible to the human eye, but with the help of your violin, you'll be able to draw them out and recruit them to your cause. Symphony of Seven Souls can be played with a keyboard and mouse combo. Alternatively, you can also plug in a gamepad if you prefer.

There are two versions of the game that you can choose from. One is called Restrung Edition, and it features enhanced textures and raytraced illuminations. While the Detuned Edition is closer in look and feel to that of the PS1's graphics. Some will note its runtime and might find it rather short, but given the nature of its gameplay, it's adequate.

Atmospheric and hauntingly beautiful

If you're a fan of the PS1-style horror games, be sure to check out Symphony of Seven Souls. It faithfully reproduces every that made those classic titles so great, from the low-poly 3D aesthetic to their haunting and atmospheric presentation. You even get a Restrung Edition that incorporates modern graphics rendering, while still preserving the overall look and feel of the game. Highly recommended and a must-play.
